Northway Devon Holiday Cottages Webcam Goes Live!

At last we can offer a sense of what it is like to be a visitor at Northway Devon Holiday Cottages.

Our webcam provides views over Bideford Bay (North Devon) that are updated every 5 minutes.

We would love to be able to study all of the images all of the time - naturally we can't but people tell us that there have been some lovely shots. Take a look for yourselves.

The Webcam Cometh

You can probably tell from the pictures that adorn our website and our Flickr pages that it is both beautiful and busy in our little corner of North Devon.

So we have decided to make it easier for everybody to see what is going on around our Devon holiday cottages by putting in a webcam. It may take us a little while to get it running perfectly so we will provide an update when it is working just right.

WiFi for Northway Devon Holiday Cottages

It's a sign of the times that lots of guests have asked if we will be setting up public internet access at Northway. I guess people like to keep in touch with business activities even when they are on holiday.

We are pleased to say that public WiFi access is being installed in the games room next week (fingers crossed) to give visitors that connection to the outside world. Mind you when they get here and see the views, run through the meadows and smell the scent of wildflowers (not to mention get on the beach, use our pool and walk the local paths!) I suspect there will be less internet activity than they think.

Clucking Over Our New Chicks at Northway

As a kind of late Easter present we have just taken delivery of 6 new chicks (2 yellow and 4 black) to add to the Northway Holiday Cottages collection of pets and animals.

The weather has been superb down here in North Devon and we are delighted to hear that the met office has forecast a good summer.

No need to go abroad after all!

Northway Ponies

Getting ready to move the ponies down to the bottom field now the weather seems to be turning warmer on a slightly more permanent basis.

It is lovely here North Devon in the Spring. Easter visitors get the benefit of the first buds as well as the sun.

What a great place to be!

Relax with the new Northway spa!

Delighted to announce that we have replaced the old spa with a brand new one (to add to the pool, gym and games room) so there will be no excuses for not relaxing when you make the trip down to the cottages this Summer.

Thinking about it, makes Winter breaks more comfortable too! See you soon.

Bideford Bay (North Devon) Snowy View

Dill at Peppercombe Beach - North Devon

We are so lucky that the cottages are so close to one of North Devon's best beaches - Peppercombe.

It is a fascinating place all year round: constantly changing character. A lovely beach for the children in the summer (when they aren't enjoying our indoor pool and games room) and great for walks in the Autumn and Winter.

Winter at Northway - Devon Cottages

We had lots of enquiries from prospective visitors and some of our old friends about the impact of the snow on Northway. Well we did have quite a covering down here and some of the roads were a bit dodgy that's for sure.

The winter landscape was very attractive though and the woodburning stoves and log fires in many of our Devon holiday cottages meant that guests stayed snug and warm anyway.

People have been particularly concerned with Northways' animals (childrens' favourites). So we have included a couple of pics just to show that they are doing fine. The first shows Dill playing in the snow the second shows some of the ducks enjoying some ice skating!

Summer's Looking Good For Cottage Booking

Sadly I can't vouch for the weather but bookings have been rolling in for the summer months since the beginning of the New Year. There is still some cottage availability in the high season but you better move fast!

If you fancy experiencing the charms of North Devon in late Winter/early Spring then we have more to choose from (and some deals on offer too). This part of the world is rather nice out of season. There are some beautiful places to visit in Devon, both indoor and outdoor like Dartington Crystal and the RHS Gardens at Rosemoor.

Out of Season Devon Cottage Breaks

Just a reminder that we have some great off-peak Devon cottage holiday offers for the winter months down here at Northway.

In fact with our indoor pool and games room, loads of places for bracing walks (through the countryside or down on the beach), and the fact that our cottages are renowned for their cosiness, January and February can be pretty good times for a visit.

So if you have small children (they'll love the animals) or you now have the freedom to take a break when you decide then take a look at the facilities that we have to offer.

Happy Christmas to visitors past, present and future.

Not a particularly cold day down here but still nice to get the woodburners and open fires going. We'll be out feeding the animals as usual later on and maybe taking in a bracing walk after lunch.

As you probably know lots of the people who have visited Northway Holiday Cottages over the years have become repeat visitors - it must be the North Devon country air!

Plenty of you keep in touch by email and phone but we are all busy and it isn't always possible to communicate directly as much as we would like. So Pauline and I have set up this blog so that we can keep you abreast of all the comings and goings down here; the cottages, the animals, the pool and facilities, and yes the animals!
